Russian Hill Residence

This residence is situated in Russian Hill, one of the most picturesque parts of San Francisco. A central location with Golden Gate views.

A contemporary and minimalist residence which was built with crisp geometric forms, a muted palette and striking details. The clients were looking for crisp, clean lines, natural materials and precision detailing.

The entire home was fully customized and includes details and material fabrications such as the hand-chiseled stone at the base of the building, the oversized glass to maximize the expansive views. The team had a lot of fun rising to the challenge that was the design and execution of the Venetian plastered helix spiral staircase complete with a metal railing and solid walnut treads.

The landscape was critical as it was previously an unkempt mid-block parcel. After an extensive process of permits, variances, historic resource analysis, environmental impact reports, the new driveway and surrounding area was designed and stewarded by the client and the Butler Armsden Architects team.
