B.Arch | Rice University
B.A. in Architecture | Rice University
Licensed Architect in CA | 2022
Janet received her B.Arch at Rice University and held internships at Matt Fakjus Architecture in Austin and Weiss/Manfredi in New York before joining the Butler Armsden team after graduation.
Architecture has served as a perfect amalgamation of two of Janet’s favorite things: art and problem solving. Although she decided on a career as an architect at the young age of ten, her small hometown in Texas was not conducive to an architecture-rich experience. It wasn’t until she lived in Houston, New York City, Paris, and San Francisco, that she was able to absorb and study how urban planning, local building materials, and the vernacular of a certain region shapes a space and a city.
Inspired by minimal architecture that is intelligent and intentional in its use of space and material quality, Janet believes architecture’s role is to respond to the users’ needs and also to dialogue with the site it occupies. Her favorite buildings in San Francisco include the California Academy of Sciences and the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption.
